Paddy dominates
A truly dominant display on home territory from the godfather. 2 clear through round 1, he was 9 clear through 36 and even the ritual 'pick on the leader with shots' wasn't enough to put him off his game, holding on down the stretch for a well deserved 4 shot win.
Rest of World (RoNZ) win; Baz chokes
It was a tightly fought contest for the Cup. RoNZ combined the better of the two sides in the pairs rounds, taking an 8 - 4 lead going into singles Saturday. A valiant fightback from the selfish Aucklanders ensued, however the gap was too just big to bridge. How different things could have been if Baz hadn't choked on the 18th (not for the first time). Blowing a lead of 5 up with 6 to play, he proceeded to four putt the final green while his opponent (Brad) took a drop from the clubhouse and go up and down to win the match. Some will never forgive Baz.
Course Ratings
Kelvin Heights played host to the Auckland team for a solid session of carpark boozing before The Rest turned up. Based on that alone, the boys would return, but the course itself was as great as ever. A test of endurance given the hilly nature, but overall its just great.
Jacks Point was good. A little niggly with tight landing spots for the longer hitter, but perched on a plateau with incredible views of all mountain ranages it deserves its spot as one of NZs best tracks.
Millbrook is a classy resort course. Great fairways and awesome presentation. The back nice was the new Coronet course which had some great variety, utilising the natural rock and land contours to perfection. Highly rated.
