Sads do the impossible
In a turn up for the ages, the Sads overcame their much more manly counterparts and took the coveted trophy.
Day 1 saw the Sads run out to a 4-nil lead, winning every pairs match at St Clair. Some say the pre-match boozing of the lads was their undoing, but more likely it was the fact that they were washed up former lads who couldn't handle the freezing cold Dunedin conditions. It was cold and it was windy - a great time to take in the beach views.
It was always going to be risky moving to an October date, especially in Dunedin and if it's ever done again more appropriate lad shorts will be sourced (and this time they will be skuxx).
Course Ratings
St Clair was a very welcoming course. Coming in hours before tee-time, an Asahi souced key was enjoyed as a great loosener. Some excellent holes early on provided a great start to this years JRC.
Chisholm was freezing. It was a cold, dreary day, with the wind whipping in off the sea. The holes up the far side put up some amazing views as well as a great test of golf. The fact it is a relatively short course didn't take away from an interesting (but cold) experience.
Balmacewen is a real jewel in central Dunedin. Having typical JR weather of bright blue skies didn't hurt either. It was wet in places, but a good mix of hills helped with some great variations. Definitely play here again.
