Gays turn it on

Any of the 20 could well have been on the Gays team, but the top 10 were selected and they let their colours shine, pipping the less gay team (also called the Straights) on the final green with the final group. Baz had the chance to win it, but put one OB on the short par 3 18th at Shandon, handing Hutch an unlikely singles victory and at the same time gifting the gays the big W.

This years tour will be remembered as the most gruelling ever. There was lots of boozing, more wind than ever, early morning tee-offs, terrible bunks and terrible rooms in terrible accommodation. Put the Martinborough wine and food festival on top of that as a punishing fourth day of boozing and all of the lads, bar none, were absolutely broken. Luckily the kareoke resturant delivered on more than one night and if we learnt anything it is that the men of the JR Cup are the best in the world and will punch on through no matter what.

Course Ratings

Royal Wellington was having some kind of issue with their fairways which made for a bit of a dissapointing experience. Still, it presented a good layout and a good test of golf.

Manor Park wasn't bad. A cute wee course which let us take as many beers in our bags as we wanted. Plus music on the way round. Let's just say that we made our own fun.

Shandon was another great little country course with basically no rules. No real standard features though, so the return to Wellington won't include this track.
