With a few of the original lads having returned to NZ (including our esteemed organiser, Patty) and a few more due to depart UK shores in the coming year we wanted to make 2013 one to remember. The core tournament was arranged for Norfolk with a big contingent of impact players swinging in for the final round and post golf partying. It went off with a bang! Great location and as always, great weather. There were a few highlights from this trip, including Bundy driving the van, the famous dossier leading to the complete demise of the rookies and VB having the shortest Tadpole cricketing career known to man (care of George, the cutest fast bowler, probably ever).
The Golf Courses
We played Sheringham Golf Club (the one remembered for the steam train running through the course); Royal Cromer and Weston Park Golf Club (the place with the glasshouse attached to the clubhouse). Combined, and individually, they were great courses. Looking back, from afar, we'd be happy to have these courses included on any JR, anywhere, ever.
The Jesse Ryder Cup
The Veterans put the trophy on the line against a strong Rookie lineup. But proving way too strong over the weekend, the Vets put the Rooks to the sword. This was the days of 36 holes in one day and experience sure showed its worth for the Vets.
The Gold Jacket
Hummer won the Gold Jacket. How that happened is something to add to the list of things we will never know about this period of the Jesse Ryder Cup.
